An Important Note: These reactions are shared by real people–and as a talk show would put it: The views and opinions of these people do not necessarily state or reflect my own.
How would you define book discrimination?
For me, book discrimination means regarding a certain genre as inferior to others.
How do you feel about it?
Honestly, it’s pathetic and totally unnecessary. Books are books, period.
What do you think is the cause of book discrimination?
I think book discrimination stems from some people’s need to prove themselves better than other people. Like – and
this is the most common occurrence that I know of – some people only read literary fiction / classics / Adult books
because they believe YA is inferior to the genre/s they read.
What would you do against it?
People will believe what they want to believe, so the best I can do against this discrimination is to continue spreading love for the books that I enjoy.
Fill in the blanks. More people should read ________ by ________ because ________.
More people should read YA books other than Twilight by Stephenie Meyer because that’s not all there is to YA
(and I actually enjoyed that series?!)
